Milford Zornes: Book of Trees

At the early turn of this century (doesn’t that sound like ancient history?), I was interviewing Master Painter Milford Zornes, N.A., for a book we were working on. Suddenly, I noticed my recording equipment wasn’t working. In this new video, I tell about the surprise that came out of that apparent disaster. It’s one of my favorite stories.

Carolyn your effort and insight to put together this book of trees has special meaning to me and I’m sure countless others. As a dear friend and painting companion of Milford I enjoy his body of work more and more as time passes. Like so many others I believe he was a giant in the link of art history and my work has and always will be influenced by him. Jerry Owens

Love the story, love the book, and love to you for bringing this to the world. Happy Birthday on January 27.

We just celebrated my mother’s on the 11th–93rd! She called this time the last “adventure” of her life. We should all approach life with the spirit of adventure. Your family certainly has.

Very nice. Loved the presentation too—but would have liked more close-ups of the book and binding process. Thanks!

I loved this video post, Carolyn! I likened it to you and I talking together, having one of our many one-on-one conversations :) I especially enjoyed hearing how this book came about — sometimes when the best laid plans go astray, these are the ones that turn out the most splendid and the most meaningful. I also loved how you told us about researching the binding for the book and then showed us how it was put together using that technique. Thanks for sharing.

It was wonderful to hear your voice and watch your beautiful, expressive hands and fingers work as you told the story of Trees. Thank you!
