Dan here. Let me introduce you to one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s not by any of the big names in music, past or present, but by our very own Carolyn Wing Greenlee.
The album is, The Battle Belong To The Lord (Songs of the Soldier #1)
Carolyn recorded this album in 1990, the year before I met her, so I’ve had 22 years to live with it. I remastered it from an old cassette a few years ago.
I love this little album because it lifts me up when I’m down and reminds me that God is in control, NO MATTER WHAT! The songs are clever, catchy, beautiful, meaningful, and memorable. Putting Scripture to song is not easy, and Carolyn is extremely gifted at doing so. This album is both charming and powerful at the same time. The technical flaws, of which there are many, add to its charm, I think.
Take 30 minutes and give it a listen. I think you’ll enjoy it and get a lot out of it. It truly does help hide the Word in your heart.
You can read Carolyn’s account of how The Battle Belongs to The Lord came about here.
